Wheat chex, corn chex or rice chex......use them one or use them all, but let's face it, this cereal can be used in so many ways.
There's the traditional Chex Mix or Puppy Chow but some days I prefer to add a new twist to the old flavor.
Butterscotch Chex Mix
With raising sons and cattle, come journeys full of adventure, mischief, and laughter.

School Breakfast: Quick and Easy Turnovers
I am always on the lookout for quick and easy breakfast meals for my boys. Especially warm food recipes that don't require an abundance of time.....this is one thing this full time working mother does not have extra of.
My boys like turnovers, but Squirrel is not a big fan of cherries or apples. He is all about chocolate.
I opened the door one morning, thinking I had turnovers on hand. Nope. No turnovers to be found. However, I did manage to locate a tube of crescent rolls.
I'm the kind of person who thinks better when she is stressed and short on time, than when I have an abundance of time to plan. It's the fight or flight thing.

Date Night: Flourless Chocolate Cake & Chasing Cows
The kids are at grandma's house, so the hubs and I decided to enjoy the evening to ourselves. A quick trip to Sam's Club and home for a movie - without any interruptions.
Yeah right!
The phone rings at 9:12 p.m., "You have cows out".
The fight or flight syndrome kicks in instantly. Shoes on, grab a coat, lock the door and bolt for the truck.
Race down the road, headlights pointing towards the fields.

Looking for a quick and easy way to jazz up a box of brownies? Look no further.
Add to your grocery list:
One box of brownie mix
One jar of raspberry preserves
One box of white chocolate squares
Oh and make sure you have eggs and oil on hand for the brownie mix.

Sweet Sinfulness: Tammy's Caramel Bars
When I moved to Hope with my So, I didn't know a lot of people. Being a northern girl moving South of 40 (only those of you who grew up in the Hoosier state know the north of 40, south of 40 rule), I was in a foreign land. I had the fortune of being introduced to a family that raised and showed Simmental cattle. Tammy and I became quick friends.
She's been a great friend to me for almost a dozen years. She's given me advice on raising my children, helped me out in emergency situations and listened when I needed a friend. One of the best things she ever did for me was give me the recipe for Caramel Bars.
I know, I know......food, seriously? You base your friendship of almost a dozen years on food. Oh, but you don't know just how special she is until you fix her Caramel Bars.
Heaven.
Bliss.
Sinful.
Delicious.
All you need is butter, quick oats, brown sugar, flour, baking soda, salt, caramel squares, chocolate chips, and milnot (evaporated filled milk).

Thankful Thursdays
Chocolate...one word that can easily be found in a woman's vocabulary and dictionary.
Chocolate...milk, dark, sweet, delicious, comforting, soothing, better than @#$....need I say more!
I couldn't resist the temptation. One little, sweet morsel of heaven.
I took the plunge. I slaved away in the kitchen.

A few ingredients for my pie. And waited....40 long, angonizing, torturing minutes. |
